Shine on

This one. Ya, its for you.

This is for anyone who has ever felt out of place.
For anyone who wanders the halls alone.
Who hides in the bathroom.
This one is for you.

This one is for all the kids who have been bullied.
for the boy who is desperately in love with the wrong girl.
this one, is for the class nerd.

Shine on.

This one is for everyone who has ever been told THEY ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

you are.

This is for all the big sisters
and little brothers.
this is for the office worker
and nine o'clock coffee drinker.

This is for the woman who loves to serve
This is for the child who was left behind.
This is for that 10 year old boy who endures chemo therapy once a week.
with out complaints.

Shine on.

This is for the cheerleader who doesn't know who she is.
and the kid, who doesn't have a label.
This is for the football star that everyone idolizes
and for the girl, no one seems to mention.

This is for the girl who sat home on the night of the dance.

Shine on.

This is for the undiscovered author.
And for the millionaire, the kid in Africa, the loser, the fashionista, the twitter obsessed, the teacher, the doctor, the genius, the under-dog, the believer, the hater.

This is for you.

Because they cannot measure your worth, with their yard sticks of perfection or their measuring tapes of failure. although, you best believe they will try. They, I, We cannot define you.
so...
Shine on
Shine on
Shine on.

I keep forgetting...

I keep forgetting.
Forgetting who i am and where i fit into this mess of a world.
When will i own myself completely?

I keep forgetting to smile, to laugh, to enjoy.
This can't be all there is.

I keep forgetting you.
your arm around me, your laugh, your hand in mine.
I keep forgetting why i ended it.
I keep forgetting now i can move on and be me.

oh. i keep forgetting to be me.

but i remember that night, with the bright lights and happy faces,
but all i cared about was yours.
but not tonight.
tonight is not the last time i will see the light.

I keep forgetting that we are trying to be "just friends".
which really means awkward conversations,
where neither one of us really say anything.
but in my brain,
there is a full dialogue of things i want to say to you.

I keep forgetting to forget you.
but everyday that goes by with out a text from you,
i start forgetting.
and i keep forgetting.
your hair and jokes and eyes.

but maybe its for the better because sometimes,
remembering is much harder than the pain of
forgetting.
